What’s hot and what’s not changes all the time in shoes just like so many other fashion categories. Finding value requires staying on top of less obvious but popular brands. Everyone notices Nike, and there are tons of them out there.
Below is a sampling of currently in-demand labels that you might not have noticed.
Hoka
Owned by Decker Outdoor this French brand is developing a near cult following. A quick check on eBay found hundreds of them sold for over $100. Some didn’t look to be in great shape.
Be on the lookout!
Yeezy
Owned by Aldidas and promoted by Kanye West. According to the LA Times, most designs are limited to 40,000 pairs and can sell out in minutes. Be careful because they are heavily counterfeited.
As of this writing fewer than 2,000 pre-owned sold on eBay, as compared to Nike with about 175,000.
Merrell
This lesser-known brand sells a combination of shoe styles including athletic, hiking, and sandals. They enjoy a very loyal following. There were over 300 pre-owned that recently sold for over $100 on eBay.
Watching for those secondary brands is a good way to find value in donated goods.
